Mr. Gamini Lokuge
Hon. Minister of Transport

Transportation being an essential commodity in day to day life of the citizenry, there is an enormous challenge before the government to introduce a conducive trans¬port system to support the social and economic standing of the country and ensure safety of the nation by managing the service effectively and efficiently. National Trans¬port Medical Institute (NTMI) widely known for its longstanding island wide role in assuring medical fitness of drivers and operators of all types of motor vehicles, also has a significant function in contributing to the task, by giving necessary medical guidance and assistance to relevant authorities to curb road accidents.

It is a great pleasure to notice that the NTMI has taken the initiative to lineup its activities along with the vision of His Excellency the President’s pledge to the country ‘Vistas of Prosperity and Splendor’, to take the services forward with a broader spectrum of services and benefits to the public. The focal strategic intent that drives towards achieving the set goals is a very important hallmark that an institute would thrive on, given that it pursues its future plan and realizes short term objectives.

The professional medical service that the NTMI renders to the public is an asset that can bring remedies to many deep seated questions of the transpiration sector if managed effectively. It is my plea¬sure to leave a message on the corporate plan of NTMI, which I hope would bear fruits paving the way for a bright future of transportation of this country.
